Hello! I am Shanda (pronounced like panda) Bezic
I love helping people become better communicators and public speakers.
Since winning my first public speaking competition at the age of 14, I have been telling stories and connecting with an audience.
I am an award winning film and theatre actor, director, improvisor, educator and have spent over a decade studying and performing clown all over the world. Yes, clown.
What do all these things have in common public speaking?
The through line in all my artistic pursuits has been a dogged hunt to experience a flow state. That feeling when the voices in your head quiet, the body is fully engaged without tension, and you are "in the moment". Not only does this state neurologically raise dopamine levels (the feel good hormone regulating memory, focus, and reward) but it makes the person in the flow state undeniably compelling.
Athletes breaking worlds records. Musician's soloing on a guitar. Children playing games. We love to watch this. The audience often can't look away. The performer in the flow state is having FUN.
This flow state isn't something you are born with or not. With practice and the right guidance, it is a teachable, learnable, repeatable skill. I know this is true because over my 15 years of coaching and teaching, I have helped innumerable clients reach this state over and over again.
In a corporate setting, as we continue to move more and more towards computer learning tools, I strongly believe that being able to speak with presence and create an honest connection with a group of people, will be a skillset that will not only increase in value but provide boosted returns the more you invest in the practice.
Above all else, I believe we learn new skills the fastest when we are having FUN! Yes yes there I go mentioning FUN again. I take FUN very seriously and I want you to as well. When we are cultivating FUN, feelings of fear, anxiousness, and self doubt naturally lessen. It's very hard to be afraid when we're authentically laughing. Using play-based techniques, we will work together in a way that doesn't feel like work.
